I.C.U. spoke with Ryan Winn, the creator of Gods & Gears, about his new project Hammerella: Thundersmoke - Now Funding on IndieGogo
Your new project, Hammerella: Thundersmoke is an over 64 page graphic novel set in the Gods & Gears universe. How did this project come to be?
During the creation of Gods And Gears we came up with dozens of side stories and ideas that we didn’t think we would ever get to since we were operating as a four issue mini series at the time.
One of those ideas was about a child of a demigod and a powerful witch. But there was zero way to make it part of the G&G story at the time. But when Alterna Comics announced were were moving to an ongoing series we realized all our ideas were now possible.
You will be handling the art duties on Hammerella yourself. Can you give our readers some of your background for those that are unfamiliar?
I spent most of the last twenty years as an inker in the comic industry. From Spawn at Image to Batman at DC, I inked it all. Meanwhile I was always working on my indie creations as a writer and artist with friends on the side. Finally after getting fed up with the mainstream industry a few years ago I decided it was indie or bust for me. Time to work on my own creations...only!
Will there be any Easter eggs for fans of Gods & Gears?
You bet! Will be be introduced to new characters and how they relate to existing characters. Plus there will be some elements of racing that will bring the stories together. But I can’t give too much away here.
